Ginger juice

Senegalese ginger juice

With its spicy taste and refreshing side, ginger juice is very popular in Senegal. With the juice of bissap and the juice of bouye, it is one of the most consumed drinks in Senegal, in particular during the month of Ramadan.

I propose a version of ginger juice with pineapple juice that reduces the spicy flavor of ginger. I give you the precise amounts of ingredients for the ginger juice. Then you add the amount of pineapple juice you want.

For 0.5 L of ginger juice:
Preparation time : 15 min
Rest : a few hours for cooling at fridge
Difficulty : very easy
Cost : cheap

Ingredients :

100 g of fresh ginger, powdered sugar, 2 sachets of vanilla sugar, 1 tablespoon of orange blossom and pineapple juice to soften the spicy side of ginger (but this ingredient is optional).

Preparation:

Start by peeling the ginger. Cut into small pieces.

Mix them for several minutes with the robot until you get a puree.

Put the ginger puree in a bowl. Add the 0.5 L of water. Mix well and let stand for 5 minutes so that the water absorbs the taste of ginger.

Stir for a long time, then filter the juice.

Then add the sugar (I put 5 tablespoons of sugar), vanilla sugar and orange blossom. Mix.
If necessary, add a little pineapple juice to soften the spicy side of ginger. It’s up to you to put the amount of pineapple juice you want.

Taste the drink and add if necessary the ingredient of your choice : sugar, pineapple juice, orange blossom ..

Put the juice in a bottle and let it cool for a few hours.

Serve the juice of ginger very fresh with ice cubes.

Good tasting !
See you soon for a new recipe.
